Review Summary:

For an integrated slimline dishwasher, this model does score well in many regards. It is a little short on the features and program options, but this is one of the better machines for its reliable operation and performance. If a long operating life and quality performance are your top concerns, then this machine is a great value in both respects.

As a quality slimline machine that still offers good performance, the Bosch SPV40C20GB dishwasher is nice for smaller kitchens. It comes ready to handle all of your home dishwashing needs and it can fit just about any piece of kitchenware on the interior. The efficiency of this model is middle of the road with an estimated energy consumption of about 249 kilowatt hours per year.

With a nine place setting capacity and some adjustable features, this machine does alright for a slimline dishwasher. You get a top basket with height adjustment capabilities and folding racks and compartments. You do get the versatility that you need for fitting most of the common dishes that you will need to clean, but the racks probably could be configured a little better.

The SPV40C20GB is somewhat underwhelming when it comes to the features and programs. It does come with all of the basics that you will need to wash everything in your kitchen, but it only has four programs and there are no additional features. Not only is there no half load feature, but you don’t even get a delay start timer.

It might lack some of the special features and a wide selection of programs, but this dishwasher does come up big in regard to performance. The normal cycle should work well for most of your regular loads and you get an intensive wash for cleaning items that are really dirty. Along with that, you also have the quick wash for times when you are in a hurry and you have an eco setting for saving water and electricity.

One thing that is good about this machine being light on features and programs is that it does make it very easy to use. You have your program listings on the control panel and each listing has an indicator light to show when it is selected. You cycle through the programs by using the program up and down buttons, then once you have selected the program, you just hit the start button and close the door.

The build quality is one of the areas where this machine is going to outshine most of the competition. It has a stainless steel interior, over flow protection and a self-cleaning filter. The machine is made from quality materials and it is very reliable. Bosch also backs the quality of this machine with a 10-year guarantee against rusting in the tub and a lifetime guarantee against water damage.
