What is a place setting?

When you’re looking for a new dishwasher you’ll notice that manufacturers tend to use the term ‘place settings’ to explain the capacity of their various models. Typically a standard size dishwasher will be able to accommodate between 10-15 place settings, with 12/13 being fairly standard. A slimline dishwasher will ordinarily fit 9 or 10.
